Safety & Protection

Owner: Director

Rule

Adhere to your congregation’s protection / safeguarding policy. It wins over any worship preference, and this page does not replace it. What follows is the worship-ministry baseline; where your church’s policy is stricter, the church’s policy applies.

Before you serve

  • Every teammate receives the church’s protection policy and the name/number of the designated reporter (kept in Our Congregation, not in this skeleton)
  • Background check and protection training as the church requires — blocking if minors serve
  • If those blanks are empty, this church has not finished adopting Petra; ask the Director before serving

Baseline (unless church policy is stricter)

  • Minors on team: ratios, check-in, and guardian rules per church policy
  • Never alone in secluded spaces with a minor; two adults for closed-room training
  • No private messaging with minors — copy a parent or a lead; no unsupervised rides
  • IEM fitting, wardrobe help, and one-to-one coaching happen in open space
  • Photos / stream of minors follow the church’s release policy

If you have a concern

  • Report to the designated reporter / church channel promptly; if someone is in immediate danger, call emergency services first
  • Do not investigate, do not confront the person, do not promise a child secrecy
  • Nothing about it goes in the band chat, the incident log, or this repo

Physical safety

  • Cable ramps / tape where needed; no unsafe DIY rigging; volunteers do not climb, fly, or rewire
  • Know exits, first aid, and the AED (Our Congregation); use emergency equipment as its prompts and your training direct
  • Hearing is people-safety: if anyone reports pain, turn down first (Tech Overview)
  • Stop the show for real danger — any lead may call it (Incidents & Contingencies)
