Values¶
Owner: Director
These values referee gray areas when a checklist does not.
1. The congregation sings¶
Our first musical success metric is their voice, not ours. Arrange, mix, key, and lead so ordinary people can join with confidence.
2. Attention goes past the platform¶
The service is a chance for people to attend to Someone besides themselves. We may be a distraction from the world; we must never be a distraction from God. If attention lands on the worship leaders instead of moving past them, we simplify and step back.
3. Framework frees the artist¶
Petra exists to settle the mundane — schedules, stands vs confidence monitors, gains, call times, who owns what — so creative and spiritual attention is available in the room. Process is a gift when it removes friction; it is a failure when it becomes the point.
4. Presence over polish¶
We prepare hard so we can be present. Excellence is a form of love for the room — not a substitute for dependence on God.
5. Clarity is kindness¶
Ambiguous expectations create anxiety. Publish the plan, the key, the call time, and the owner.
6. Team over talent¶
We would rather have a faithful, prepared team player than a gifted lone ranger. Parts serve the arrangement; arrangements serve the congregation.
7. Stewardship¶
Time, gear, budget, and attention are limited. We leave rooms better than we found them and flag problems early.
8. Feedback in love¶
Notes after rehearsal are normal. Public shaming is not. Correct privately when possible; celebrate publicly often.
9. Sunday starts midweek¶
The service is the fruit of planning, personal practice, and communication — not a wing-and-a-prayer meetup.
10. Safety and honor¶
We honor the church’s protection policies, stage boundaries, and one-another care. No ministry moment is worth harming a person.
