Mission¶
Help the church sing and attend to God. Music, word, and well-run technical craft remove avoidable obstacles so the room can respond without distraction — they do not manufacture God’s presence.
Primary intent (non-negotiable)¶
The point of musical worship leadership is to encourage the congregation to sing.
Everything else is downstream of that:

Talent, production, and creativity are gifts for congregational voice — not replacements for it.
Where attention goes¶
The service gives people an hour to attend to Someone besides themselves. Musical worship may rightly be a distraction from the world — it must never become a distraction from God, and it is not aimed at the worship leaders. If the room's attention settles on the platform, we redirect it: simplify, turn down, step back, re-center the lyric.
Vision¶
A team that is:
- Spiritually grounded — servants first, musicians second
- Musically prepared — charts learned, parts clear, dynamics intentional
- Technically invisible — sound, lights, and media serve the moment
- Artistically free — mundane decisions already settled, so presence and craft can breathe
- Relationally safe — people can grow, fail forward, and stay
What success looks like (signals, not scoreboard)¶
- The congregation sings (primary signal)
- Transitions feel calm
- Teammates know expectations before Sunday
- New volunteers can be onboarded without tribal knowledge
- Artists are not burning cycles on avoidable logistics
- Gear and people are cared for after the last song
Non-goals¶
- Platform culture or celebrity musicianship
- Complexity that only the same three people can run
- Policies that exist to control rather than free the team
- A “tight show” that quiets the room
