Band Musician¶
Owner: Worship Lead
Purpose¶
Provide rhythmic and harmonic foundation that supports singing and the arrangement.
Applies to¶
Electric/acoustic guitar, bass, keys/pads, drums/percussion, other instruments as scheduled.
Expectations¶
- Personal practice before rehearsal (chart + reference + metronome/click if used)
- Attend the prior group rehearsal for any service you are scheduled to serve (see Rehearsal Standards)
- Reliable gear in working order; backups for critical items when reasonable
- Tune / patch / iPad charged before downbeat
- Play the arrangement: leave holes, don’t fill every bar
- Volume discipline — stage volume is a team problem, not a personal right
- Click loyalty when click is on; recover quietly if you slip
- Stage reading default: use confidence monitors (aka video monitors) for lyrics/cues/charts; music stands only with Worship Lead/Tech Lead exception (Lyrics & Stage Displays)
Preparation checklist¶
- Chart downloaded / printed or confirmed on confidence workflow
- Patches or pedal scenes labeled per song
- Capo / instrument changes planned
- Know who carries motif vs pad vs groove in each section
- Prior rehearsal on the calendar; conflicts flagged early
Drummer’s note¶
When drums captain the tempo and feel, lock in with the Worship Lead and any tracks before debating fills.
