Lighting Operator¶
Owner: Tech Lead
Purpose¶
Support focus, mood, and congregation comfort without turning the platform into a concert that excludes the room.
Owns¶
- Cue list aligned to order of service
- Safe levels — strobes and seizure-risk effects are off by default; only with the Director’s approval and a photosensitivity note on the plan (your church’s rule in Our Congregation)
- Stage wash sufficient for cameras and real faces
- Knowing blackout and restore (grand master / bump) without looking
Attendance¶
- Prior group rehearsal required when scheduled for that service — see Rehearsal Standards
- Prefer running key cues against the set at midweek when the weekend is cue-heavy
Defaults¶
- Bright enough for people to feel invited to sing
- Dynamic for full-band moments; prayer / word = static warm wash, no movement
- Avoid cue spam that distracts from the lyric
- Volunteers do not climb, fly, or rewire fixtures
Pre-service¶
- Patch / universe OK
- Cue stack matches plan
- Blackout and restore (grand master / bump) ready for unplanned moments
- Hands off at freeze unless safety/failure
